Acrobatics and tumbling, equestrian, rugby, stunt, triathlon and women&#8217;s wrestling are working their way through the NCAA\u2019s Emerging Sports for Women program with the hopes of gaining enough university participation to become NCAA championships \u2014 with some on the cusp of joining the ranks. In this recording from the TEAMS Conference &amp; Expo held recently in Anaheim, the leaders of these efforts discuss where they are in the process and what destinations can do now to help build out other events leading up to a championship, including camps, clinics and combines.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>The panelists for this episode:<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"m-seminar-list__list__items__item__speakers__speaker\"><strong><span class=\"m-seminar-list__list__items__item__speakers__speaker__name\">Gary Abbott, Director of Communications and Special Projects, USA Wrestling: <\/span><\/strong><span class=\"m-seminar-list__list__items__item__speakers__speaker__name\">Abbott<\/span><span class=\"m-seminar-list__list__items__item__speakers__speaker__name\"> has led USA Wrestling\u2019s communications program for over 37 years, and has worked at 10 consecutive Summer Olympic Games, the most of any NGB or USOPC communications staff member. In his role as director of special projects, he has been a pioneer in building women\u2019s wrestling for decades, including currently serving as a wrestling liaison to the NCAA Committee on Women\u2019s Athletes.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"m-seminar-list__list__items__item__speakers__speaker\">\n<p><strong><span class=\"m-seminar-list__list__items__item__speakers__speaker__name\">Amy Haney, Director of STUNT (West, Mid-South, and Southeast), USA Cheer: <\/span><\/strong><span class=\"m-seminar-list__list__items__item__speakers__speaker__name\">Haney<\/span><span class=\"m-seminar-list__list__items__item__speakers__speaker__name\"> joined USA Cheer in 2020 as the director of college STUNT and now serves as the director of STUNT. She has held a seat on the board of the College STUNT Coaches Association and the College STUNT Rules Committee. Haney was previously director of spirit programs and head STUNT coach for Concordia University Irvine.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"m-seminar-list__list__items__item__speakers__speaker\">\n<p><strong><span class=\"m-seminar-list__list__items__item__speakers__speaker__name\">Amy Rusert, Executive Director, National Intercollegiate Rugby Association: <\/span><\/strong><span class=\"m-seminar-list__list__items__item__speakers__speaker__name\">Rusert<\/span><span class=\"m-seminar-list__list__items__item__speakers__speaker__name\"> has been the executive director for the National Intercollegiate Rugby Association since 2018. Her roles have included competition management, advocacy, outreach and event production.
